On June 17, 2024. the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University of Rijeka was visited by 35 members of the Cheonan City Council from South Korea. The professional meeting organized on this occasion was attended by members of the Faculty management and representatives of Faculty teachers, as well as Mrs. Marija Banac as a representative of the Kvarner Health Tourism Cluster.
Mrs. Banac presented the mission and vision of the Cluster and gave an insight into the interactions of the health, scientific and tourism sectors, that is, the scientific industry, which conditions the creation of a recognizable and competitive health-tourism product at the local and international level.
Assoc. professor Romana Peršić Bukmir, vice-dean for internationalization, quality and science, presented the structure of the Faculty of Dental Medicine as well as the study programs themselves, stressing the importance of the faculty’s interaction with the community, which takes place through numerous professional and humanitarian projects of the Faculty itself.
On this occasion, Professor Alen Braut presented his innovation T4C19R (Torpedo for-Covid 19 from Rijeka), for which he received the Innovation Award of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. This is a protective chamber that allowed dental doctors to work normally during the covid pandemic, when it was imperative to absolutely prevent the spread of aerosols. In addition, this kind of innovation gave our esteemed guests an insight into the excellent potential of the Faculty to be a source of innovations applicable in professional work, in addition to extensive teaching and scientific work. Our guests expressed their satisfaction with what they saw and expressed their readiness for further cooperation. They continued their stay in Rijeka with a visit to one of our teaching bases, the OrtoNova dental center.
